Many theme park rides like to take on a specific theme such as pirates or ancient Egyptians, while many choose great action blockbusters made in Hollywood as the basis for their thrill seeker rides. Most of these rides are located at Universal Studios Theme Park in Hollywood or Disneyworld with a few located in the UK. Here we take a look at the rides that have made the experience feel like we are on the set of some of our favourite Hollywood movies.
Despicable Me Minion Mayhem Universal
This is the newest of the rides at Universal opening in April 2014 and is based on the Despicable Me Movie. This exciting 3D ride sees participants train and become a Minion but as you would expect things from here don't exatly go as planned with riders plunging into a trip they will never forget. Fans of the movie will love this ride that is filled with fun and laughter all the way.
Transformers The Ride 3D Universal
Transformers has been popular for decades with a new generation of kids getting into the latest version of the films in the last couple of years. The 3D ride at Universal, that is based on the Transformers movie, is so realistic that riders feel that they are battling through the elements with these huge robots, changing the world as they go.
Riders will find themselves plunged into the action right in the middle of a war zone, while along with hero Optimus Prime you will battle it out against the evil Decepticons. Special effects here are simply amazing, while riders come back again and again as they just can't get enough of The Transformers experience.
Revenge of the Mummy Ride Universal
If you are up for speeding along at 45 miles per hour in pitch darkness then the Revenge of the Mummy ride is the thrill for you! This exciting ride is Egyptian themed and is based on the famous Hollywood Mummy movies franchise, while riders may be interested to learn that hierogyphics painted on the walls they flash past actually spell out words, messages and warnings. This of course isn't much use if you don't understand hierogyphics.
Expect awesome special effects plus scary mummies that will make your heart beat so fast you will see it in the dark!
Jurassic Park The Ride Universal
I remember vividly going to the cinema to see the original Jurassic Park movie and feeling awestruck at the special effects that depicted the giant dinosaurs. The Jurassic Park Ride has exactly the same affect on its riders as the mammoth sized dinosaur that is T Rex that stands fifty feet high looks so real you will think you have literally been transported to Jurassic Park.
Prepare to get soaked on this ride too as there is an 84 feet drop down a waterfall with millions of gallons of cascading water gushing past creating huge showers that practically engulf your raft.
Dumbo The Flying Elephant Ride Disney
Dumbo The Elephant has been a firm children's favourite for decades due to the Dumbo movie, released back in 1941, that features a special flying elephant. Dumbo The Flying Elephant never ceases to please generations of kids worldwide therefore it is no surprise then that the Dumbo The Flying Elephant Ride at Disneyland is one of the must experience rides for kids who are lucky enough to visit Disneyland.
Sit in Dumbo as he soars above the park with one set of flying Dumbos that go up as the other set go down in the opposite direction too. Children can control how high or low Dumbo flies by using the lever inside the carriage, while what better way to be greeted as you board Dumbo than by his faithful friend Timothy Q Mouse.
Pirates of The Caribbean Ride Disney
Pirates of The Caribbean starring the fantastic Johnny Depp has been one of the most successful franchises of the twenty first century. This swashbuckling movie with amazing special effects was bound to be transformed into a theme park ride at some point and indeed has and can be experienced at Walt Disney World.
The Pirates of The Caribbean ride meanders along a watery passageway for a while until you shoot down the waterfall to see the Golden Age of Piracy. Many pirates will serenade you as you go plus you can even join in the singing if you like. The ride takes you past the Pirates Grotto, The Fort, The Town Square, The Dungeon and a Burning City. Everything you would expect from a pirate ride and more is discovered on this ride, while keen eyed buccaneers will spot Jack Sparrow if they pay attention, along the way.
Saw The Ride Thorpe Park England
Saw The Ride is located at Thorpe Park Theme Park and is based on the horror movie franchise Saw that was first seen in 2004. This ride is bone chilling to say the least and is not for the faint hearted as riders are sped through the twisted world of the movies villain Jigsaw.
Riders will climb one hundred feet before being dropped past rotating steel blades making this ride one of the worlds most terrifying roller coasters to date.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Ride Alton Towers England
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory began life as a Roald Dahl book that was made into a movie first in 1971 and again in 2005. The ride is located at the fabulous Alton Towers theme park and is a firm favourite with the kids. This ride is perfect for all the family, while there is no other place on earth to meet and see Willy Wonka and his friends than here.
Visitors will ride on a boat through the factory where they will see all the wonders that Willy Wonka became famous for in the movie such as the chocolate room, juicing room, inventing room, candy frenzy and last but not least the fantastic mirror maze. Once the ride is over visitors can then take a look around Mike TV's television room or ride in Willy Wonka's glass elevator.
