Disneyland Florida is a popular destination for those of us who wish to take a special trip of a lifetime with the kids. There is so much to see and do here with all the childhood favourites featured in both characterisations such as Mickey Mouse plus the many exciting rides in the park. Let's take a look at the best rides on offer when visiting this magical place.
Pirates of The Caribbean
The popular movie that began the Pirates of the Caribbean series is featured in a superb ride that preceded the movies and that adults and children alike will be thrilled to take. Suitable for all ages the ride is located in Magic Kingdom Park and journeys around at a comfortable speed that will not frighten the younger kids even in the darker sections.
The journey takes you past many spectacular tableux depicting pirates and their adventures, while superb animatronics bring the whole thing to life along with amazing special effects thrilling to the eye. Visitors will travel along in their own barge, dipping down small waterfalls that add excitement, while great pirate themed music accompanies the brave buccaneers throughout their journey.
Visitors will pass the pirates cove, a battle that rages near the fort, a burning city and finally a deep dark dungeon. The ride has plenty of atmosphere, while visually it is a real treat for all. Children under the age of seven are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
Dumbo the Flying Elephant
Children simply love Dumbo the Flying Elephant be it in the cartoon depictions of Dumbo or when given the opportunity to take to the skies just like our favourite elephant on this great Dumbo attraction. This ride especially suits younger kids but is also a firm favourite of older children too.
Visitors will pass by Dumbo's friend Timothy Q Mouse when boarding the ride, while upbeat fairground music accompanies children throughout the ride bringing an air of excitement to the proceedings. The ride begins by lifting visitors into the air with one line of Dumbos flying one way while the other takes the opposite direction.
Another great feature is that your child can control how high Dumbo flies by using the handle that sits inside the ride, therefore whether its really high or much lowers kids prefer to be, it is accomodated. Preceded by a superb childrens play area that kids can enjoy while they await their turn this magical Dumbo ride will be a firm favourite with your kids forever!
The Dinosaur tour located in Animal Kingdom is popular with children and adults who like to be frightened as well as thrilled when taking a ride. Travelling back in time visitors will experience what it was like to live amongst the dinosaurs millions of years ago. This attraction is not only exciting but educational too with areas that have accompanying narration explaining just what exhibits are plus how they were all those years ago.
The best part of the Dinosaur for us was when we boarded the time rover to drive through the dark eerie forest in search of a dinosaur! The trip is one of thrills and spills passing huge dinosaurs as you speed around neat turns that have you leaning one way or the other in order to keep on track. There are plenty of special effects used on this ride adding to the atmosphere and excitement, while small kids may find it all a little too much. Dinosaur is definitely an attraction that is not to be missed when visiting the Animal Kingdom theme park.
Haunted Mansion takes visitors on a scary, dark atmospheric trip around a haunted estate where ghosts and all things supernatural are the order of the day. Those of us who like a fright or two will love this ride as it passes corpses in coffins, while your guide is none other than a headless ghost who commentates on the ride throughout.
Haunted Mansion has fifteen ghostly fun filled rooms with many spheres and apparitions coming and going that will scare the pants off you! Even the entrance to the mansion has ghostly features with interactive attractions such as The Musical Crypt where visitors can tap on instruments to make them play spine chilling music. Overall Haunted Mansion is a great attraction for all the family with most of the effects not too scary even for the younger visitor.
Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin
This superb ride is suited to all ages even pre-school children. Kids will love becoming a Junior Space Ranger who engages in battle with the evil Emperor Zurg featured in the Toy Story movies as the enemy of Buzz. Firing lasers, the aim is to stop Zurg before he steals all the batteries from the toys, rendering them helpless.
Sitting onboard your own cruiser is great, while Space Rangers will fire their lasers while spinning 360 degrees in a thrilling battle against the evil emperor. Surrounded by flashing lights and great effects kids will play the game of a lifetime. Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin is located in Magic Kingdom's Tomorrow Land area and is proving to be one of the most popular attractions that is based on the Toy Story Movies.
Peter Pan's Flight
Peter Pan is a magical fairy tale about a boy who never ages plus he has the ability to fly making it a firm favourite with children everywhere. Peter Pan's Flight gives us the opportunity to take to the skies over London just as Peter Pan did onboard a magical pirate ship giving us superb overhead views of some of the best locations described in the Disney movie.
From the nursery to Neverland plus everywhere inbetween the ride rises and falls at a steady pace so visitors can take in the beautiful twinkling lights along with the magical features of the amazing Neverland. Mermaid Lagoon, Skull Rock and The Lost Boys are all here, while children of all ages will wonder at the spectacular views that are a feature of this exciting ride.
The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh
We all love Winnie the Pooh therefore we wouldn't want to miss out on taking a trip through Hundred Acre Wood when visiting Disneyland Florida. The ride is inspired by The Disney film and is suited to children of all ages. Riding in a huge honey pot which is very appropraite, children will witness many of the popular scenes from the movie that they so love.
All the favourite Winnie the Pooh characters are featured including Piglet and Eeyore, while Tigger bounces past in a lovely night time scene. There are Heffalumps, Woozles, Kanga, Rabbit and Owl, in fact all the great inhabitants of Hundred Acre Wood feature throughout the ride. Under the Sea Journey of the Little Mermaid
This amazing ride is suitable for all ages as it is a beautiful musical trip that features scenes from the Little Mermaid film. Travelling along on a colourful clam shell visitors will enter the world of the undersea mermaids in all its enchanting glory.
All the songs featured in the film are played as you roll along, while the superb special effects make children feel like they are actually under the sea in this magical place. Meet all your Little Mermaid favourites including Ariel, Prince Eric, Flounder, Ursula The Sea Witch and many more.
Under the Sea Journey of the Little Mermaid will delight and amaze, with the superb animatronics used in the tableaux features really bringing this exciting journey to life.
